Widely recognized for top quality content and service, the Independent portfolio of publications comprises more than 20 print and online newspapers popular throughout Ireland, England, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand. When redesigning the newspapers’ web properties, a number of priorities were common across all the sites, including creating an interface with much more reader-friendly access to content and significantly enhancing advertising, publishing and archival capabilities. Equally important was preserving each publication’s distinct brand identity while continuing to cultivate strong personal connections with readers. Expanded opportunities for audience involvement have been notably successful on the redesigned sites, particularly within the blog, feedback and community calendar features.
